Krakatau Steel Involves Local Farmers in Distribution of 192 Sacrificial Animals
A total of 5,000 sacrificial meat packages were distributed to communities around Krakatau Steel’s industrial area in Cilegon City during the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. The programme reached approximately 13,000 beneficiaries and involved local livestock farmers in the procurement of sacrificial animals.
HR Director of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk, Suryantoro Waluyo, stated that the Krakatau Steel Group distributed 43 cattle and 149 goats this year, valued at approximately Rp2 billion.
“Eid al-Adha is not merely about the ritual of animal sacrifice but also an opportunity to strengthen social care and the spirit of sharing with those in need. Krakatau Steel Group aims to ensure the company continues to deliver tangible benefits to surrounding communities,” said Suryantoro in a statement on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
Beyond expanding the distribution of sacrificial meat to communities, the procurement of animals also involved local farmers. This approach has increased demand for the rural livestock sector ahead of Eid al-Adha.
Suryantoro confirmed all sacrificial animals underwent health checks and complied with religious requirements. He expressed hope that the distribution would reach the intended beneficiaries and benefit local communities.
According to him, the procurement of sacrificial animals also impacts local economic activity, from livestock farmers and feed suppliers to transport and logistics sectors involved in the distribution.
The programme is considered to enhance community access to animal protein, particularly for groups with infrequent meat consumption.
Cilegon City Government praised Krakatau Steel Group’s annual sacrificial animal programme. Rahmatullah, Head of the People’s Welfare Division of Cilegon City Administration, described the initiative as a collaboration between business, local government, and the community.
“This initiative serves as a moment for strengthening community ties and promoting generosity and social care. We hope Krakatau Steel Group continues to grow and provide widespread benefits to Cilegon’s residents,” said Rahmatullah.
PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk’s President Director, Akbar Djohan, stated that the sacrificial animal distribution is one of the company’s social activities aimed at supporting community welfare in operational areas.
“As a company that has grown alongside Cilegon City, Krakatau Steel focuses not only on business and national industrial growth but also has a social responsibility to continue benefiting communities in operational areas,” said Akbar.
