Krakatau Posco Demonstrates Consistent Improvement in Sustainable Business Performance
Jakarta, VIVA – Krakatau Posco has once again secured the PROPER Green ranking this year, marking the third consecutive year of achievement. This feat positions the company as the sole entity in the iron and steel industry to consistently retain this ranking.
Department Head of Environment at Krakatau Posco, Muhamad Naskuri, stated that this success stems from the consistency and collaboration of all company elements.
“This achievement of PROPER Green for three consecutive years reflects the company’s sustainable commitment to managing the environment responsibly. We continue to promote the implementation of innovations that not only focus on compliance but also provide added value for the environment and society,” said Naskuri, quoted from his statement on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
This success serves as evidence that the industry can operate in harmony with sustainability principles. Through various initiatives such as improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, optimising waste management, and strengthening community empowerment programmes, Krakatau Posco continues to reinforce its role in creating positive impacts for the environment and society.
This maintained commitment is expected to inspire other industry players to collectively drive a greener and more sustainable future in Indonesia.
“Looking ahead, we are committed to continuously enhancing environmental performance as part of our tangible contribution to sustainable industrial development,” added Naskuri.
The award was presented at the PROPER Environmental Awards event organised by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry/Environmental Control Agency on 7 April 2026 at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. The event was attended by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, along with various environmental stakeholders.
Based on Ministerial Decree No. 1581 of 2026 from the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, the number of PROPER participants this period reached 5,476 companies, a 22% increase from the previous period’s 4,495 companies. This indicates a rising commitment among businesses to implement sustainable environmental management practices.
From the evaluation results, 39 companies achieved PROPER Gold, 243 companies achieved PROPER Green, 2,103 companies achieved PROPER Blue, 2,596 companies achieved PROPER Red, and 4 companies achieved PROPER Black. Amid this rigorous assessment process, Krakatau Posco has successfully maintained its superior environmental performance consistently.
