Krakatau Posco Boosts Youth Awareness on Safety and Digital Security to Drive Sustainable Business
The President Director of Krakatau Posco, Kim Young Joong, has affirmed that the company will continue its efforts to provide beneficial contributions to the surrounding environment, focusing not only on business achievements but also on mutual growth with the community. Driven by this spirit, PT Krakatau Posco is once again holding Global Volunteer Week 2026, carrying the theme ‘Sharing that Protects Everyone’s Everyday Life, Safety for All’. This event presents various educational programmes aimed at increasing young people’s awareness of safety, health, the environment, and digital security. ‘As a company, we are not solely focused on profit. We also want to grow together and share happiness with the communities around us,’ said Kim, quoted from a statement on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Through Global Volunteer Week 2026, Krakatau Posco employees and partners are not only creating value for the business but also making tangible contributions to society through various programmes supporting safety, education, health, and environmental sustainability. The collaboration between the company, local government, educational institutions, and the community serves as proof that positive change can be realised through a spirit of mutual cooperation and shared concern. Global Volunteer Week is an annual programme consistently held by Posco Group since 2010. Through this programme, more than 20,000 Posco Group employees in various countries directly participate in social activities as a form of concern for the community, with the aim of creating a sustainable positive impact. Taking place at SMP Negeri 4 Cilegon as the main location, more than 500 volunteers consisting of Krakatau Posco employees, KPSE, and the Partner Forum (FMK) took part in social activities lasting 9 days, from 4 to 12 June 2026. The volunteers shared knowledge through six educational classes designed according to the challenges currently faced by society. In the Early Fire & Disaster Response Education session, students were introduced to disaster mitigation steps and initial actions in emergency situations, such as fires or natural disasters. This education aims to build preparedness and rapid response capabilities from a school age. Meanwhile, through CPR Training, students gained a basic understanding of basic life support and first aid techniques for cardiac arrest and other emergency conditions. These skills are expected to increase the chances of survival before professional medical help arrives. In the health aspect, the Health Talk session raised the topic of healthy eating for children. Students were invited to understand the importance of consuming nutritious food and implementing a healthy lifestyle from an early age to support optimal growth and development.
