KPUDs told to use existing logistics

SURABAYA: General Elections Commission (KPU) deputy chairman Ramlan Surbakti suggested on Thursday that local elections next year use the logistics of this year's general election.

The government regulation currently being prepared should also compel local election commissions (KPUDs) to use existing ballot boxes and polling booths for the sake of efficiency, he said.

As a comparison, Ramlan said the total amount of money taken from provinces, regencies, and cities in the April legislative election was calculated as having reached Rp 660 billion.

More then 200 regions are expected to organize local elections starting in June next year.

He said KPUDs must draft regulations for the implementation of local elections. - Antara
