KPUD seeks review by Supreme Court

JAKARTA: The Depok General Elections Commission on Tuesday filed for a review by the Supreme Court of the West Java High Court's ruling overturning the victory of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) in the June 26 mayoral election.

Aside from filing a review, counsel for the Depok KPUD also urged the Supreme Court to prioritize the appeal so as to put an end to the uncertainty facing the Depok city administration.

"We are not mixing politics with this case. We are only taking legal action," said West Java election committee head Setia Permana as quoted by detik.com.

In its application, the commission argued that the high court decision contravened the law, but it did not submit any new evidence as required for a case review. --JP
