KPUD chairman named suspect in fraud

PALU, Central Sulawesi: Police have named as suspects the chairman and two other members of Palu Municipal General Elections Commission (KPUD) on allegations of vote-counting fraud.

KPUD chairman Alwi Mastura confirmed that the police had summoned them and that they would be questioned as suspects.

The alleged offense occurred when Mastam Halim, a legislative candidate from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI- P) reported the three for adding 218 more votes in the last minutes to Golkar candidate Andi Indra Adil, which paved the way for Andi to be elected councillor at Palu municipal council, but it also stopped Mastam's legislative bid. -- JP
