KPU to define 'disgracelful behavior'

JAKARTA: The General Elections Commission (KPU) may issue a definition of "disgraceful behavior" in an instruction that could be used to block the candidacies of some presidential hopefuls, a KPU member says.

KPU member Mulyana W. Kusumah said on Friday such a regulation was necessary as several potential presidential nominees had allegedly received funds from questionable sources.

He was commenting on allegations that funds from the Rp 1.7 trillion BNI scam went to potential presidential nominations.

Mulyana said the KPU might also issue of definition of treason that would prevent prodemocracy activists who were jailed in the past from being disallowed for running for president. -- JP
