The General Elections Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia will build an Election Journey Museum after receiving state-seized assets valued at Rp3.2 billion from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

The Acting Head of the Bureau of Procurement of Goods/Services and State-Owned Goods of the KPU RI, Nur Wakit Aliyusron, explained that the election museum will highlight the journey of elections from the first instance to the most recent. “This museum will retell the journey of elections in Indonesia, starting from the first election in 1955 to the present, which has now taken place 13 times,” Nur stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

Nur explained that the purpose of building the election museum is to ensure the public has a better understanding of maintaining integrity in democracy. The KPU expressed its appreciation and gratitude to the KPK.

Separately, the Director of Asset Tracing, Management of Evidence, and Execution at the KPK, Mungki Hadipratikto, explained that the handover of the assets was based on the Decree of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14/MK/WKN.07/2026, dated 12 June 2026.

The Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, stated that he entrusted the KPU RI to place special markers on the assets to indicate they are the results of corruption criminal seizures. The goal is to educate the public that assets seized by the KPK are not left unused.

“The KPK will monitor periodically for the next six months to one year to ensure the proper recording of state-owned goods documents and their utilisation,” he said.
