KPU responds to ballot debacle

BATAM, Riau: General Elections Commission (KPU) deputy Ramlan Surbakti said on Friday the double-puncture ballot paper debacle arose due to an error in wrapping the papers.

The design of the ballot papers with the double perforation was also a contributing factor to the problem, he said on Batam Island in Riau province.

"It happened, although we had disseminated information publicly through electronic and print media on how to cast votes in the presidential election," Ramlan said. -- Antara
