KPU reported for alleged irregularity
PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Three legislative candidates from the Indonesian Democratic party of Struggle (PDI-P) reported on Monday the local General Elections Commission (KPU) to poll watchdog the Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) for an alleged irregularity.
The three legislative candidates for Banyumas regency are Wiyono, Isnaeni and Priyanto.
Wiyono said he is fourth on the PDI-P's list of legislative candidates for the Banyumas regency council.
He said he should be third on the list because the Banyumas KPU had scrapped the candidacy of a legislative candidate originally ranked third on the list. That candidate was removed because he failed to meet registration requirements.
"But instead of moving me up to the third position, the Banyumas KPU put another person third on the list of legislative candidate on Jan. 26," said Wiyono, adding that this person was originally listed sixth on the list of PDI-P legislative candidates.
He questioned whether the KPU had the permission of PDI-P executives to make this change.
Isnaeni and Priyanto said they suffered similar incidents.
Ahmad Rofik, a member of Panwaslu, said the watchdog would meet with the KPU and the three legislative candidates to discuss the matter. -- JP
