KPU prepping for elections: House

JAKARTA: Logistical woes that afflicted the April 5 legislative election may be unlikely to recur in the July 5 presidential election, as the General Elections Commission (KPU) has completed all necessary preparations.

"Logistics and material provisions for the July 5 election has been arranged as scheduled," said senior legislator Agustin Teras Narang, quoting KPU chairman Nazaruddin Syamsuddin as saying after a meeting at the House of Representatives.

Agustin, chairman of House Commission II on domestic affairs, added that the House was ready to help the KPU with financial and legal arrangements, if things went awry with their preparations. -- JP
