The General Elections Commission (KPU) of Klaten held an open plenary meeting on the results of the ongoing voter data update for the first quarter of 2026. The plenary session, conducted at the KPU Klaten’s hall on Wednesday (1/4), was chaired by KPU Klaten Chairman Primus Supriono.

The meeting was attended by Bawaslu Klaten Chairman Arif Fatkhurrohman, representatives from the police (Polres), military district command (Kodim), the Civil Registry Office (Disdukcapil), and political party representatives in Klaten.

KPU Klaten Chairman Primus Supriono stated that the results of the first quarter 2026 voter data update showed a decrease from the fourth quarter 2025 data.

The first quarter 2026 update recorded 971,566 voters in Klaten, down from 979,844 in the fourth quarter 2025.

“Thus, the voter count from this quarter’s update has decreased compared to the fourth quarter 2025,” he said.

Of the 971,566 voters in the first quarter 2026, there were 478,511 males and 493,055 females. They are distributed across 401 villages/sub-districts in 26 sub-regencies.

Factors contributing to the decline in voter numbers include deaths, moves out of the area, and seeking employment or education outside Klaten.

“There are also status changes from civilians to TNI or Police members, but not in significant numbers,” he explained to the press after the plenary meeting.

Regarding population movements, both incoming and outgoing, as well as deaths, the KPU and Disdukcapil Klaten routinely hold monthly coordination meetings.

According to Primus, the ongoing voter data update is conducted to refresh or update the data, with the aim of making the voter data more accurate.

“We also plan to collaborate with Disdukcapil to develop a rapid reporting application system for deaths of Klaten KTP holders,” he said.
