Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Komisi Percepatan Reformasi Polri (KPRP) recommends strengthening the paradigm in cultural reform to prevent negative behaviour within the Indonesian National Police (Polri).

Retired Police General Ahmad Dofiri, a member of KPRP, stated during a press conference in South Jakarta on Wednesday that several negative behaviours are still found, such as a culture of violence, corruption, impunity, and the silent blue code or the practice of not reporting violations by fellow personnel.

According to him, the most fundamental step to address these issues is through strengthening education within the Polri environment.

“In educational institutions, the philosophy of life guidance and work guidance needs to be reinforced, such as Tri Brata, Catur Prasetya, and the values of Tata Tentrem Kerta Raharja,” he said.

“The expected output is Polri personnel who are embracing, humane, professional, and oriented towards public service,” he added.

Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received the final report and recommendations from KPRP, handed over by KPRP Chairman Jimly Asshiddiqie at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5).

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services, who is also a KPRP member, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, conveyed that the compiled recommendations are substantial and have the potential to drive major changes, including the possibility of revising the Police Law.

He emphasised that various recommendations are expected to strengthen the oversight system and improve the accountability and professionalism of Polri.
