KPR housing loan

I have a KPR home loan from one of the liquidated banks. Until July 2000, I always paid my KPR installments to the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) either through Bank Dagang Negara, in the early days of liquidation, and later through Bank Central Asia. The installment amounts I paid were just the same as my last payment before the bank was liquidated, at 32 percent interest, because I did not get any information about the status of my KPR in terms of loan value or amount of installment I should have paid.

I had long intended to pay off my outstanding loan but there was never any clear information from IBRA of when my documents pledged as collateral would be returned upon settlement of the debt. In this spirit, on July 3, 2000 I contacted IBRA in the building formerly housing Bank Papan Sejahtera (now liquidated) on Jl. Rasuna Said. I was advised to wait until late August 2000 because, so I was told, there would be a transfer of data from IBRA to Bank Danamon. I was really shocked to learn that my KPR data, computerized by IBRA, showed that I had not paid any installments for 17 months. After I produced copies of my installment payments, an IBRA staffer on duty said that it could be that the data had not been entered into the computer.

On Aug. 23, 2000 I contacted IBRA's customer service and was told that administratively I had to deal with Bank Danamon and that IBRA no longer kept my data. Strangely, on the same day when contacted, Bank Danamon said that it was yet to be given the data. So, where must I go to pay my installments and who keeps the files of my collateralized documents?

IBRA handles a big number of assets in this country and should perform very well. Do not put debtors in difficulty and cause bad debts simply because of lack of clarity.
