KPPU to Intensify Business Competition Compliance Programme Amid Low Uptake
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Competition Commission (KPPU) is striving to enhance its business competition compliance programme, which was launched in 2022, to ensure businesses adhere to the principles of fair competition.
“We will continue to encourage businesses to independently apply for the compliance programme,” said KPPU Chair Gopprera Panggabean in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He noted that the business competition compliance programme was first introduced in 2022, yet out of the thousands of large companies registered with Statistics Indonesia (BPS), only 64 have submitted applications up to mid-2026. Gopprera admitted that the programme has not been maximised, with data showing a decline in applications from 30 companies in 2022 to 18 in 2023, and just nine in 2024. The figure dropped further to only three companies by mid-2025.
“In fact, the benefits of this compliance programme are numerous, including the potential for reduced fines in the event of a violation, improved corporate reputation, and ensuring the company operates in accordance with regulations without committing breaches,” he stated.
He added that of the 64 companies that have applied for the compliance programme, 38 are state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and 26 are private companies. “We will continue to improve this and hope the programme can be accessed by more companies,” he concluded.
