KPPU settles six cases with fines totalling Rp767 billion

The Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has stated that as of June 2026, it has decided on six out of twelve cases, imposing fines totalling Rp767 billion. “The total fines imposed reached Rp767 billion,” said Head of the KPPU Public Relations and Cooperation Bureau, Deswin Nur, in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to him, from the beginning of the year until the end of June 2026, the KPPU handled a total of 12 cases, with six cases completed and six others still in process. Deswin said that of the six cases that have been resolved, one was found not proven after handling. Meanwhile, the total number of reported parties from the six cases reached 110 individuals. Regarding the cases handled by the KPPU, he continued, they included violations of Article 5 of Law Number 5 of 1999, which prohibits business actors from making agreements with competitors to fix the price of goods or services. “Then there are Articles 22, 23, 24, and 29 which were handled. In the disputes we handled, there was also a report of a former employee establishing a new company and taking all the clients from the old company,” he said. He added that of the six decided cases, one is still in the objection process at the Jakarta Commercial Court and has begun trial. For the others, he continued, the decisions are final with fines being paid in instalments, while some did not file legal objections but the sanctions have yet to be implemented. “Meanwhile, two cases have been confirmed to have fully implemented the KPPU’s rulings,” he said.
