KPK's Response to OC Kaligis Reporting Former Klaten Regent Over Alleged Plaza Rental Corruption

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that every public complaint regarding alleged corruption cases is confidential, so details of the report cannot be disclosed to the public.

This statement was made by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in relation to senior lawyer OC Kaligis reporting former Klaten Regent Sri Mulyani to the KPK over the alleged corruption in the rental of Plaza Klaten.

“Regarding public complaints, this is excluded information or confidential, so we cannot confirm whether we have received or not received such a complaint,” Budi said at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

He said that if the information provided is valid, the KPK will conduct the necessary in-depth investigation.

“We will see how it develops. But certainly, at the initial stage, we cannot provide confirmation or clarification on whether there is or is not such a complaint,” he added.

Kaligis, as the legal representative of defendant Jap Ferry Sanjaya, considers the designation of his client as a suspect to be unfair and demands that Sri Mulyani, who approved the rental agreement, also be prosecuted.

OC Kaligis has requested that Sri Mulyani be promptly designated as a suspect in the case affecting his client.

“I said that Sri Mulyani must be involved (in the Plaza Klaten corruption case),” said OC Kaligis when met at the Semarang Corruption Court, on Monday (20/4/2026).

“I said, this is really, I even the regent has been reported (to KPK) before but it didn’t proceed,” he revealed.

“This is a special criminal offence, they say it has to be about renting. Now the renter is being criminalised,” he continued.

In a previous hearing, Sri Mulyani had also admitted to being involved in signing the Plaza Klaten rental project.

“But she said she didn’t know the contents. That’s just empty talk,” he said.
