KPK's Response to DPR Secretary General Winning Pre-Trial Hearing

Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated it will study the legal considerations of the sole judge at the Jakarta Selatan District Court regarding the granting of the pre-trial application submitted by the Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Indra Iskandar.

“We will study the legal considerations that form the basis of the judge’s decision to determine the next legal steps,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.

Budi said KPK is taking this step because the pre-trial decision is not the end of law enforcement efforts, particularly regarding the alleged corruption in the procurement of equipment for members of the DPR RI’s official residences in the 2020 fiscal year.

“As long as there is sufficient evidence, KPK has the authority to continue the investigation process in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” he stated.

Nevertheless, Budi said KPK respects the Jakarta Selatan District Court judge’s decision on Indra Iskandar’s pre-trial application.

“KPK respects the judge’s decision in the pre-trial hearing filed by Mr IS (Indra Iskandar) as one of the due processes of law, particularly in examining the formal aspects of this case’s investigation,” he said.

Previously, KPK announced the investigation of the case on 23 February 2024.

On 7 March 2025, KPK named Indra Iskandar and six others as suspects in the case.

On the same date, KPK explained that the suspects had not been detained as they were awaiting the calculation of state financial losses by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

Then, on 14 April 2026, the Jakarta Selatan District Court granted Indra Iskandar’s pre-trial application, revoked his suspect status, and ordered KPK to halt the investigation of the case.
