The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini, known as LAZ, is suspected of receiving up to Rp12.4 billion from corrupt practices. Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, explained that the receipts consisted of Rp10.8 billion from alleged conflicts of interest in the procurement of goods and services, and Rp1.6 billion in the form of bribes after PT Meconel Sistim Instrument won projects within the West Lombok Regency Government in West Nusa Tenggara. Taufik further explained that the Rp10.8 billion received by Regent LAZ originated from funds received by the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda), Sudirman. “The funds received from the project results, amounting to Rp41.7 billion by SUD through CV DKK, were among others channelled to LAZ as Regent totalling Rp10.8 billion,” he said. He explained that Regent LAZ initially ordered the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas Office of West Lombok, Lalu Ratnawi, to help Sudirman obtain work project packages at the West Lombok PUPRPKP Office. Subsequently, Sudirman engaged in a ‘flag-borrowing’ practice so that his company, CV Dyas Karya Konstruksi (CV DKK), would not be administratively recorded as the project winner at the West Lombok PUPRPKP Office. Taufik said Sudirman then won four projects through a tender process, as well as a total of 28 work packages through direct appointment. The total value of these projects reached Rp17.9 billion. “From these work project packages totalling Rp17.9 billion, SUD allegedly gave a three per cent fee to the providers whose flags were borrowed, and obtained a profit from all the projects of Rp10.6 billion, which was then collected at CV DKK,” he said. In addition, Sudirman, through CV Dyas Karya Konstruksi, also received funds from procurement at the West Lombok Regional Development Planning Agency and the West Lombok Youth and Sports Office amounting to Rp31.1 billion. When the Rp31.1 billion is added to the Rp10.6 billion receipt, the total received by Sudirman through CV Dyas Karya Konstruksi becomes Rp41.7 billion. From this Rp41.7 billion, Rp10.8 billion was distributed to Regent LAZ. Meanwhile, the alleged bribe of Rp1.6 billion was received by Regent LAZ from the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument, Alvonsus Gani. Taufik stated that the alleged bribe was in the form of goods, facilities, and cash, received by Regent LAZ after Alvonsus Gani’s company won projects with a total value reaching Rp27.1 billion during 2024-2026. Previously, the KPK confirmed a sting operation against Lalu Ahmad Zaini on 20 July 2026. The operation was the 17th conducted by the KPK throughout 2026. In the sting operation, the KPK initially said it arrested 19 people and brought seven to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta for further examination. The KPK later said it arrested one more person for further examination in Jakarta. On 21 July 2026, the KPK named Lalu Ahmad Zaini and Sudirman as suspects in the alleged conflict of interest case. Subsequently, it named both individuals along with Alvonsus Gani as suspects in the alleged bribery case within the West Lombok Regency Government.
