KPK: West Lombok Regent Arrested at Official Residence
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini was arrested at his official residence during a sting operation (OTT). KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday that the arrest was carried out that morning. “What is certain is that the Regent was arrested this morning at his official residence,” Budi stated. In addition to the West Lombok Regent, the KPK also detained 18 other individuals in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Subsequently, all detained parties underwent initial examinations at the Nusa Tenggara Barat Regional Police Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters before seven people were taken to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for further investigation. Previously, KPK Deputy Chairperson Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the sting operation against the West Lombok Regent. The operation is the 17th such action conducted by the KPK this year. “Correct,” Fitroh told ANTARA. Meanwhile, the office of the West Lombok Regent and several other rooms within the West Lombok Regency Government in West Nusa Tenggara have been sealed by the KPK. In accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties arrested in the operation.
