Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reminded all regional heads, including regents, not to burden personal needs outside official duties on regional apparatus or official budgets.

“Thus, burdening personal needs outside official duties on regional apparatus or official budgets constitutes an illegal act,” stated Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday evening.

Asep conveyed this after the KPK named Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo as a suspect in an alleged extortion case against officials of the regional apparatus organisations (OPD) within the Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java.

In addition, the KPK advised public officials not to abuse their authority, including using declaration letters as tools for threats.

“Public officials must not abuse their authority, including turning declaration letters into pressure tools,” he said.

In the operation, the KPK secured 18 people, including Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a member of the Tulungagung DPRD, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro.

The following day, on 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatut Sunu along with his brother and 11 others to Jakarta for further examination.

On the same day, the KPK named Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, as suspects in the alleged extortion and other receipts case within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
