KPK Warns Officials to Reject Eid Gratuities in 2026; 32 Already Reported
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reminded all State Administrators (PN) and Civil Service Apparatus (ASN) to firmly reject all forms of gratuities ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. This warning was conveyed through the issuance of a Circular Letter (SE) on gratuity control related to the religious holiday.
“The purpose of issuing this SE is to encourage all PN and ASN to reject gratuities from the start or to report the receipt of any form of gratuity related to the religious holiday,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement, Friday, 13 March 2026.
Budi emphasised that state officials have a constitutional obligation to reject gifts in any form. Certain gifts are feared to potentially influence policy-making and the integrity of officials’ work in the future.
“Especially since such gratuities may relate to office or conflict with the obligations of a PN or ASN itself,” Budi said.
The KPK requested officials to immediately report if they receive gifts that cannot be directly refused, for example gifts delivered through couriers or third parties that are difficult to avoid in the field.
To date, the KPK continues to monitor incoming reports through its gratuity reporting system. Of the total reports received, 14 complaints are still under review and validation by the KPK’s Directorate of Gratuity team.
“Meanwhile, as of now, the KPK has recorded 32 gratuity reports worth IDR 13.6 million that fall into the pre-Eid category,” added Budi.
For reports that have been declared as state property, the KPK has processed them to be handed over as social assistance to several regions in Indonesia to provide real benefits for those in need.
This preventive measure is expected to protect the dignity of Indonesia’s bureaucracy from corrupt, collusive, and nepotistic (KKN) practices during the celebration of major religious holidays in 2026.
