KPK visits Polri to discuss handling of alleged corruption cases
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Asep Guntur Rahayu, along with KPK’s Director of Investigations, Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto, visited the National Police (Polri) headquarters to discuss the handling of alleged criminal corruption cases with Polri’s Corruption Crime Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor). “There are several cases that we are currently communicating about,” said Asep when met at Polri headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday. However, Asep could not yet provide details to the public because the case handling is still in the early stages. “Since this is still the early stage, we cannot disclose it yet,” he stated. He explained that the handling of the alleged corruption cases was specifically discussed by himself and Tessa with the Head of Kortastipidkor Polri, Inspector General of Police Totok Suharyanto, along with his team. “We were scheduled to meet with Mr. Kakortas and his team or staff. This is certainly coordination regarding case handling,” he said. According to Asep, coordination is necessary because the handling of alleged corruption cases cannot be managed by one institution alone. “Of course, we, including KPK, Polri, the Prosecutor’s Office, and supported by other stakeholders, work together to handle criminal corruption. So, this is in the framework of coordination and communication,” he clarified. On a separate occasion, Head of Kortastipidkor Polri, Inspector General of Police Totok Suharyanto, confirmed the meeting with KPK officials for coordination purposes. “To enhance coordination and synergy between Kortastipidkor and KPK regarding several case handlings,” said Totok.
