The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested that the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Riau, Suhardiman Amby, and the Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency, Zulkarnain, surrender themselves. “We urge the Regent and Regional Secretary of Kuansing to be cooperative and turn themselves in to the KPK,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6).

According to Budi, the presence and statements of the two state officials are required following the KPK’s 14th sting operation (OTT) this year. “Their statements are needed for the ongoing legal process at the KPK,” he stated. During the operation, the KPK arrested ten individuals in Kuansing and Jakarta, subsequently bringing five of them to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for examination. The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

The KPK’s first OTT of 2026 took place on 9–10 January, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals over alleged bribery related to tax audits at the North Jakarta Madya Tax Office within the Ministry of Finance’s Directorate General of Taxes for the 2021-2026 period. Later that month, the KPK arrested Madiun Mayor Maidi in its second OTT and Pati Regent Sudewo in its third. In February, the KPK arrested the Head of the Banjarmasin Madya Tax Office in South Kalimantan during its fourth OTT. The fifth operation saw the arrest of Rizal, the former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, who was serving as the Head of the Customs Regional Office for Western Sumatra. The sixth OTT resulted in the arrest of Depok District Court Chief I Wayan Eka Mariarta and Deputy Chief Bambang Setyawan.

During the fasting month of Ramadan in March 2026, the KPK conducted separate operations, arresting Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. The tenth OTT in April 2026 led to the arrest of Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo. No operations were conducted in May, but in June 2026, the KPK resumed its activities, prompting Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim to surrender. The KPK then arrested Muara Enim Regent Edison in its 12th OTT and a civil servant from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in its 13th OTT, which was a follow-up to a previous arrest.
