KPK Urges Kramat Jati Police Hospital Doctors to Accelerate Yaqut's Recovery

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is urging the medical team at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital to promptly treat former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. Yaqut’s detention has been suspended after he fell ill with a digestive condition several days ago, interrupting the ongoing legal process in the hajj quota corruption case. “We are confident the doctors and medical team will act swiftly and professionally so that the legal process can resume,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Friday, 26 June 2026. Budi stressed that although Yaqut’s detention is currently suspended, the KPK continues to monitor his health status at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. He noted that all parties wish for the legal proceedings in this case to run effectively to provide legal certainty. The suspension of detention was based on a medical examination which determined that Yaqut required inpatient care. Budi explained that the suspension was granted to ensure the basic rights of the suspect are fulfilled, and investigators will continue to monitor his health while ensuring the investigation proceeds accordingly.
