The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is urging the Bekasi Regency Government in West Java to improve its governance as part of anti-corruption prevention efforts.

Irawati, Head of the KPK RI Coordination and Supervision Task Force for Region 2, made this statement during an Integrity Strengthening Forum in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Tuesday.

She stated that governance improvements must be implemented comprehensively, ranging from planning and budgeting to the procurement of goods and services.

“Our intention and purpose in coming here was to fulfil the invitation from the Acting Regent. However, it is also our moral responsibility, as Bekasi Regency is one of our coordination areas,” she said.

She urged all regional apparatus within the Bekasi Regency Government to optimise their roles in improving governance and preventing criminal acts of corruption.

According to her, Bekasi Regency is a large area with numerous industrial zones, necessitating a collective commitment to building a better and more integrous government.

“We need to be committed together. We must change and think about the people of Bekasi Regency,” she remarked.

She noted that these three aspects—planning, budgeting, and procurement—constitute a single, interconnected, and inseparable cycle of governance.

“Be civil servants who possess high integrity; build a government governance that is transparent, accountable, effective, and oriented towards the interests of the community,” she added.

In recent years, Bekasi Regency has been the site of two KPK sting operations (OTT) involving regional heads. The KPK conducted another sting operation in Bekasi Regency on 18 December 2025, resulting in the arrest of the Regent of Bekasi, Ade Kuswara Kunang, during the first year of his 2025–2030 term.

The KPK subsequently named Ade, along with his father, HM Kunang, and a private individual named Sarjan, as suspects in an alleged bribery case involving ‘ijon’ (pre-contract) projects within the Bekasi Regency Government.
