KPK Uncovers Fake Examination Summons Scam in East Java
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has urged the public to exercise caution regarding fake summons letters impersonating the KPK. This warning was issued after the KPK received information about the circulation of such fraudulent summons in the name of the commission.
“The Corruption Eradication Commission has received information about the circulation of fake summons letters in the name of the KPK. Therefore, we urge the public to be more careful and alert to scams of this nature,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Friday (27/3/2026).
Budi stated that the fake summons are known to be circulating in the East Java region. The forged letters include summons for several business entities or companies to provide statements.
The fake letters are also accompanied by investigation order numbers and are signed in the name of the KPK’s Director of Investigations. Budi emphasised that the letter is fake.
“The KPK confirms that the summons letter is fake and was never issued by the KPK,” said Budi.
Budi also requested that the public remain cautious and alert to various scams impersonating the KPK, including extortion, case handling, or requests for money or donations in any form.
“Every task carried out by KPK personnel is always accompanied by an official task letter from the institution. Similarly, every activity organised by the KPK, including the dissemination of anti-corruption seminars, is free of charge and does not require any fees,” explained Budi.
Budi further stated that if the public becomes aware of or encounters criminal acts impersonating the KPK, they should immediately report it to local law enforcement or the KPK.
Reports to the KPK can be submitted directly through the Directorate of Public Complaint and Reporting Services (PLPM) at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Jalan Kuningan Persada Kav. 4, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. The public can also contact the KPK call centre at 198 or submit reports via the website kws.kpk.go.id, KPK WhatsApp at 0811 959 575, or email pengaduan@kpk.go.id.
