The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed approximately 20 freight forwarders or import cargo service providers linked to a corruption case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise under the Ministry of Finance. Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, stated at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Monday: ‘There are around 20 or more forwarders across Indonesia, at every port. We are also seeking their statements.’ Meanwhile, he said the KPK has already taken statements from several executives of these forwarders, particularly those not connected to PT Blueray Cargo. ‘Several executives from other forwarders have been questioned. Some may have been interviewed on the spot or met here when they were summoned as witnesses,’ he added. The following day, the KPK formally named six out of 17 detained individuals as suspects in a case involving alleged bribery and gratification related to the import of counterfeit goods within customs. They include Rizal (RZL), who served as Director of Customs Enforcement and Investigation from 2024 to January 2026 and is currently the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office, Sisprian Subiaksono (SIS), Head of the Customs Enforcement and Investigation Intelligence Sub-Directorate, and Orlando Hamonangan (ORL), Head of Customs Intelligence Section. Additionally, the KPK designated John Field (JF), owner of Blueray Cargo; Andri (AND), Head of Blueray Cargo’s Import Documentation Team; and Dedy Kurniawan (DK), Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo, as suspects. On 26 February 2026, the KPK named a new suspect: Budiman Bayu Prasojo (BBP), Head of Customs Intelligence Section in the Enforcement and Investigation Directorate of Customs. On 6 May 2026, John Field, Andri, and Dedy Kurniawan appeared in court for their first hearing as defendants. The name of Customs Director General Djaka Budi Utama then emerged in the charges against the three defendants. In the indictment, Djaka Budi, along with Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan, allegedly met with cargo entrepreneurs at a Jakarta hotel in July 2025, with John Field among those present. On 20 May 2026, the KPK’s Public Prosecutor stated that Djaka Budi Utama was accused of receiving a bribe of up to 213,600 Singapore dollars, approximately Rp2.97 billion based on the exchange rate as of 1 June 2026.
