KPK: Tulungagung Regent Uses Extortion Money to Pay Eid Bonuses to Regional Leadership Forum

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states that Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW) used money from alleged extortion to provide holiday allowances (THR) to the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) in Tulungagung Regency.

“The money was used by GSW to give THR to several Forkopimda members in the Tulungagung Regency Government. This is based on the admission from Mr. YOG,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday (11/4) evening.

YOG is Gatut Sunu Wibowo’s aide named Dwi Yoga Ambal. Meanwhile, based on investigations, the Tulungagung Forkopimda includes the police chief, military district commander, and the local DPRD chairman, among others.

Furthermore, Asep suspects that Gatut Sunu Wibowo used the extortion money for various personal interests.

“For personal interests, such as buying branded shoes of course, then paying for medical treatment, dining, and other personal needs,” he said.

Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) in the Tulungagung area, East Java, on 10 April 2026.

The KPK arrested 18 people in the operation, including Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a Tulungagung DPRD member, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro.

The day after, or on 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his brother, along with 11 others, to Jakarta for intensive examination.

On the same date, the KPK named Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW) and his aide Dwi Yoga Ambal (YOG) as suspects in the alleged extortion and other gratifications case within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
