The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has brought seven of the 19 people caught in a sting operation involving the Regent of West Lombok to Jakarta for intensive examination. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the seven individuals, comprising state officials and private sector representatives, were flown from West Nusa Tenggara on Monday evening. West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini was among those transferred to the KPK’s Red and White Building. The anti-graft agency has also sealed the regent’s office and several other strategic rooms within the West Lombok Regency Government. Budi stated that the KPK has a maximum of 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained, with an official announcement regarding the case construction and suspects to be made in a press conference soon.
