Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is tracing alleged gifts from private-sector actors to Gatut Sunu Wibowo during his tenure as Regent of Tulungagung, related to the manipulation of project winners within the Tulungagung Regency government, East Java. Thus, in the Tulungagung case, there are also allegations of gifts from private-sector actors to the Regent. This concerns deals arranged outside the formal system, even though the procurement process had been conducted through the e-Catalogue. According to KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo, the modus operandi to influence project winners involved continuing to follow the e-Catalogue procurement process but making arrangements outside the system. ‘The processes for goods and services procurement have been conducted through the e-Catalogue. However, there were deals done outside the system,’ he said. Previously, KPK carried out an arrest operation in Tulungagung on 10 April 2026. KPK arrested 18 people in the operation, including Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a member of the Tulungagung DPRD, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro. The day after, on 11 April 2026, KPK brought Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his brother along with 11 others to Jakarta for intensive questioning. On the same date, KPK announced Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW) and Dwi Yoga Ambal (YOG) as suspects in a case of alleged extortion and other receipts within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. KPK suspects Gatut Sunu extorted regional apparatuses in the Tulungagung government using a modus of a resignation letter from his office and civil servant status. The letter had been signed and stamped but the date had not yet been written. With this modus, KPK suspects Gatut Sunu obtained up to Rp2.7 billion from targets (16 heads of SKPDs or OPDs) within the Tulungagung Regency government, from a target of Rp5 billion.
