KPK to Verify Public Complaint Against East Java and Bojonegoro DPRD Members
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will verify a public complaint concerning a member of the East Java Provincial Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), identified by the initials SW, and a member of the Bojonegoro Regency DPRD, identified as SP.
“The KPK will conduct verification as an initial follow-up to the report it has received,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Monday.
Budi said the KPK needed to verify the complaint to establish the validity of the information provided by the complainant.
He said the KPK could not disclose the results of the verification or provide other updates, as public complaints are classified as information exempt from public disclosure.
“We can only inform the complainant of each stage and any progress,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, Safira, representing the Jakarta-based ITSLaw legal team, visited the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta to lodge a public complaint concerning SW and SP.
She also asked the KPK to coordinate supervision with the East Java Regional Police.
“As well as lodging a new complaint, we came to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building to ask it to supervise the complaint our colleagues filed with the East Java Police,” she said.
She said the request was intended to encourage the East Java Police to handle the complaint professionally, transparently and accountably, in accordance with the law.
