KPK to Summon West Lombok Officials in Bupati's Project Manipulation Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will summon a number of officials from agencies within the West Lombok Regency (Lobar) administration. The summons aims to deepen the investigation into the corruption scheme allegedly perpetrated by West Lombok Bupati Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ).
“The roles or the flow of money, whether other OPDs were also involved in the construction of the case, will be developed during the investigation process, of course,” said Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein during a press conference at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
Taufik cited an example from the case, stating that Bupati Lalu Ahmad had summoned the Head of the West Lombok Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP), Lalu Ratnawi (LRI), to ensure that projects within the PUPRPKP Agency were awarded to suspect Sudirman (SUD). The KPK indicated that this matter would be investigated further to determine the extent of the agencies’ involvement in the case.
“As mentioned earlier, he summoned the head of the OPD or the head of PUPR, in this case, Mr. LRI, to ensure or order the head of PUPR that all projects must be coordinated with SUD,” Taufik stated. “This means the facts found by the investigation team currently indicate that the head of PUPR was merely following orders from the suspect in his capacity as Bupati, who is his superior. Of course, we do not simply believe that or are not 100 per cent convinced,” he added.
In this case, Lalu Ahmad allegedly requested the collection of Rp 500 to 750 million ahead of the 2025 Eid al-Fitr holiday. The KPK suspects that Sudirman, as President Director of PT AMGM, asked the Head of the West Lombok PUPRPKP Agency to collect money from projects for Lalu Ahmad’s benefit. Lalu Ahmad allegedly used the money to purchase land.
The KPK has subsequently named three individuals as suspects in this case. They are: 1. Lalu Ahmad Zaini, Bupati of West Lombok; 2. Sudirman, President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang Lombok Barat (PT AMGM); and 3. Alvonsus Gani, President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (PT MSI).
The KPK has charged Lalu Ahmad and Sudirman under Article 12 letter i and Article 12 letter a or letter b and/or Article 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 20 letter c in conjunction with Article 21 of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, Alvonsus has been charged under Article 605 or Article 606 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with the Criminal Adjustment Law.
The KPK suspects that Lalu Ahmad received Rp 10.8 billion through project manipulation, as well as Rp 1.6 billion in bribes from Alvonsus. The Rp 1.6 billion bribe was allegedly given in the form of cash and goods.
