KPK to Send Aid to Earthquake Victims in NTT

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto has expressed his condolences for the victims of the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The KPK will provide assistance for the victims.

This was conveyed by Setyo while serving as the ceremony inspector for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (17/8/2026). He stated that KPK personnel empathise with the misfortune that has befallen the people of NTT.

“Amidst the atmosphere of independence celebrations, some of our fellow countrymen are facing difficult times. Therefore, on behalf of the entire KPK family, I express my sincere empathy and solidarity to them. May they be given strength, fortitude, and a way to recover quickly,” said Setyo.

Setyo requested that this assistance be coordinated through the KPK Secretary-General. He said the aid could later be sent directly to the affected locations.

“I have also instructed the Secretary-General to try to help as much as possible, as best we can. Perhaps through collecting donations or by providing goods that we can then send to the locations affected by the earthquake,” he said.

Setyo also invited all ceremony participants to pray for the victims. He hopes that all the people of NTT will always be given protection and a swift recovery.

“I ask for permission for all of us to pray for our brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara,” said Setyo.

“For all our brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara, we pray that they are always under the protection of Allah the Almighty, God the Almighty, and are given strength,” he added.

It is known that a strong earthquake shook NTT on Saturday (15/8). The tremors caused fatalities, building damage, and forced thousands of residents to evacuate.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has released a report on the number of victims in the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). It was stated that 53 people died and 135 people were injured.

“In total, we recorded 53 fatalities, with details as follows: West Manggarai Regency, one person. East Manggarai Regency, 20 people. Manggarai Regency, 25 people. Nagekeo, one person. Sikka, four people. Ende, two people,” said BNPB Deputy for Prevention Abdul Muhari during a press conference on Sunday (16/8).
