Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that it has temporarily rescheduled the examination of former Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, for next week, specifically between March 2nd and 6th, 2026.

“For the time being, the examination has been confirmed to take place next week,” said KPK Spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Budi stated that the KPK is urging Budi Karya Sumadi to be cooperative and comply with the rescheduled examination.

He also urged the former Minister to provide the information needed by KPK investigators when he attends the summons.

“Thus, it can effectively help uncover the case and bring clarity,” he said.

Previously, the case was revealed following an operation conducted by the KPK on April 11, 2023, at the Class I Railway Technical Center for the Central Java Region of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

Currently, the Class I Railway Technical Center for the Central Java Region has been renamed the Class I Semarang Railway Technical Center.

The KPK then named 10 suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case involving the construction and maintenance of railway lines in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

After some time, or until January 20, 2026, the KPK had named and detained a total of 21 suspects. The KPK also named two corporations as suspects in the case.

The alleged corruption occurred in the construction of the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso double-track railway project; the construction of a railway line in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan Cianjur, West Java; and a project to repair level crossings in Java-Sumatra.

In the construction and maintenance of these projects, it is suspected that there was manipulation of the project implementers by certain parties through engineering from the administrative process to the determination of the tender winner.

Budi Karya Sumadi had previously been examined by the KPK in this case. He was last examined by the KPK as a witness in the alleged corruption case at the DJKA on July 26, 2023.

On February 18, 2026, the KPK again summoned Budi Karya Sumadi. However, he was unable to attend the summons due to a conflicting schedule.
