The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed it will summon again Muhammad Suryo, the boss of the HS cigarette brand and founder of Surya Group Holding Company. Suryo skipped the KPK investigators’ summons on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Suryo was scheduled to be examined by the KPK regarding allegations of bribery in importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. “The KPK will coordinate and communicate with the individual to fulfil the scheduling of the next examination,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

The KPK stated that there is information that needs to be explained by Suryo regarding the Customs and Excise case. However, the KPK is still keeping secret which data is meant.

“In principle, testimony and information from every witness is certainly needed by investigators to then uncover this case more clearly,” said Budi.

In the investigation process, the KPK is probing the excise management procedures by cigarette entrepreneurs. This is to identify any suspected deviations and confirm findings from the results of the raid in that case.

“Investigators are delving into how the excise management procedures work, so it can be seen whether there are deviations and linked to the findings during the raid,” said Budi. This case is a development from the alleged bribery case related to importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
