The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will determine the fate of Muara Enim Regent Edison and nine others arrested in a sting operation (OTT) on Monday night (8/6).

“The case exposure is being conducted tonight,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday. According to Budi, the case exposure will determine whether the ten individuals arrested will be officially named as suspects.

“We will examine the presentation, the construction of the case, the roles of the parties allegedly involved, and the specific articles used for the charges, whether they involve bribery, gratification, extortion, or otherwise,” he stated.

Previously, on 8 June 2026, the KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals in a sting operation in South Sumatra, consisting of five officials from the Muara Enim Regency Government and five private sector representatives. The KPK also confirmed that one of the detainees is the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison.

Edison was arrested in South Sumatra and is scheduled to be brought to the KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6). Additionally, the KPK reported the seizure of several hundred million rupiah in cash during the operation. Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has a 24-hour window to determine the legal status of those arrested in a sting operation. This incident marks the 12th sting operation conducted by the KPK in 2026.
