KPK to Auction Corruption Seizures, from Coffee Machines to Rp200,000 Mobile Phones
The Corruption Eradanness Commission (KPK) will conduct an auction of assets seized from corruption criminal acts on 18 June. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that there are numerous interesting items up for auction from cases that have reached a legally binding status (inkracht).
“These include mobile phones, coffee machines, branded shoes, as well as land and buildings valued at billions of rupiah,” Budi stated in a written briefing on Sunday (7/6).
The auction stages commenced on 25 May. Members of the public can inspect the items directly during the Aanwijzing (pre-auction inspection) process on 11 June at the KPK’s House for the Storage of Seized and Confiscated Goods (Rupbasan) in Cawang, East Jakarta. Budi noted that the Aanwijzing process is part of the KPK’s commitment to transparency, ensuring there are no assumptions that the auction is being conducted secretly or that items are being hidden.
“During the Aanwijzing process, all potential bidders can directly inspect the condition of the items to be auctioned. For example, motor vehicles can be inspected for physical condition, engine viability, and the completeness of their documentation,” he said.
In this June auction period, the KPK will offer a total of 108 lots of assets with a total value of approximately Rp311 billion. Specifically, 76 lots consist of immovable property, including 30 land and building units, 39 plots of land, and seven apartment units, with a total value of Rp308.4 billion. Meanwhile, the remaining 32 lots consist of movable goods valued at over Rp2.6 billion. These include 16 four-wheeled vehicles, one two-wheeled vehicle, and four lots of heavy or construction machinery.
Additionally, the auction features three Apple mobile phones priced at around Rp200,000, four gold-coloured award pins, three pairs of branded shoes, and one branded belt. Other items include a face recognition access control terminal package, one branded coffee machine, and one automatic intelligent disinfection device.
Budi stated that the items to be auctioned have undergone valuation by the State Assets and Auction Service Office (KPKNL) under the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance. He noted that the reserve prices for the auction objects vary, ranging from hundreds of thousands to over Rp10 billion, with asset locations spread across various regions in Indonesia.
Budi mentioned that through the open bidding mechanism, the KPK continues to promote transparent, competitive, and inclusive auction governance. “This system provides broader opportunities for the public to participate while strengthening the principle of accountability in managing assets derived from criminal acts of corruption,” he concluded.
