The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has decided to temporarily discontinue its investigation into alleged corruption related to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/6) that since coercive measures have been taken by another agency, the KPK need not carry out further activities for the time being, as its process was still at the inquiry stage. Setyo added that the KPK trusts the performance of the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) in investigating the MBG case at the BGN, which is currently underway. He noted that law enforcement officers are performing their duties to the maximum extent possible, with transparency and public disclosure being part of the legal process. Prior to attending a working meeting at the House of Representatives, he also addressed questions regarding coordination between the KPK and the Kejagung, stating that the investigation is already progressing and coordination will occur if needed. Previously, on 3 June 2026, the Kejagung named former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, along with former Deputy Heads Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya, as suspects in the alleged corruption of the MBG programme’s management. According to the Kejagung, one modus operandi involved appointing unqualified foundations affiliated with the suspects to serve as MBG kitchens or Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), from which they allegedly received benefits. The Kejagung also suspects they marked up prices in several procurements of goods and services, causing state financial losses. The KPK revealed on 8 June 2026 that it had been conducting an inquiry into the alleged MBG corruption at the BGN when the Kejagung announced the detention of the former BGN leadership.
