KPK Suspects Unsoed Rector Used Intermediaries in New Student Admission Bribery Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the suspected involvement of intermediaries in the case of Universitas Soedirman (Unsoed) Rector Akhmad Sodiq, who was caught in a sting operation (OTT). The intermediary is suspected of having a role in every receipt obtained by Akhmad Sodiq.

“It is suspected that there was layering in the receipt of funds,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (21/8/2026).

Akhmad Sodiq was caught in the KPK sting operation on Thursday (20/8). In addition to Akhmad Sodiq, two Vice Rectors of Unsoed were also detained by the KPK.

Akhmad Sodiq was detained in Jakarta along with one other party, while his two vice rectors were detained in Purwokerto.

From the initial examination at the Banyumas Police Headquarters, Budi stated that investigators brought seven people to Jakarta. The seven individuals are currently still undergoing examination at the KPK building.

“So that up to now, the parties detained in the series of events of the sting operation and who are currently undergoing questioning at the KPK total 9 people,” he added.

This sting operation is related to alleged bribery in new student admissions. The KPK seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash as evidence.

“This closed investigation activity is related to alleged receipt of funds by state officials in new student admissions,” said Budi.

The detained parties are still under examination. The KPK has 1x24 hours to announce the status of the parties caught in the sting operation.
