KPK suspects Transportation Ministry bureau heads in gratification case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects several Heads of Transportation Ministry bureaus involved in gratification as the givers.
Therefore, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the anti-corruption agency summoned five civil servants (ASN) who previously or currently held the position of Kemenhub bureau head as witnesses between 25-26 May 2026.
“Investigators are seeking statements regarding alleged receipts by Kemenhub officials from bureau heads,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He explained the five witnesses were summoned for the case involving alleged bribery in railway construction and maintenance projects under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.
The witnesses include Ariyandi Ariyus, Head of the North Sumatra Class II Land Transportation Management Bureau (BPTD); Herman Armanda, former Head of Ambon Type C BPTD; and Hanura Kelana Iriana, Infrastructure Section Head of West Java Class I BPTD.
All three were summoned on Monday (25/5), but only Ariyandi Ariyus complied with the summons.
Both complied with the KPK summons for the case.
The case emerged after the KPK conducted a raid (OTT) at the Central Java Region Class I Railway Technical Bureau on 11 April 2023.
The Central Java Region Class I Railway Technical Bureau has since been renamed to Semarang Class I Railway Technical Bureau.
The KPK has since charged 10 suspects and detained them in connection with alleged corruption in railway construction and maintenance projects across Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.
As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has charged and detained 21 suspects in the case, including former member of DPR RI’s Commission V for the 2019-2024 term, Sudewo. Two corporations have also been named as suspects.
The corruption case involves the double-track railway project Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso, railway construction in Makassar, four railway construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan and Cianjur, as well as the Java-Sumatra level crossing improvement project.
In these projects, it is alleged that project contractors were rigged through administrative manipulation from the application process to the tender winner determination.
