Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects the inactive Pati Regent and former Commission V DPR RI member Sudewo (SDW) of receiving kickbacks related to the construction and maintenance of railway tracks through his trusted associate.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that investigators from the anti-corruption agency are delving into these suspicions by examining RMM, the commitment-making official at the East Java Railway Technical Office for the 2021-2022 period, DHP, the Project Implementation Consultant for the Jember-Kalisat track project in 2023, and SH, the Director of PT Giri Bangun Sentosa, as witnesses on Wednesday.

“In the examination related to suspect SDW, investigators are delving into matters concerning alleged interventions, tender arrangements, up to the alleged provision of ‘fees’ (kickbacks) for the project to SDW through his trusted associate,” Budi told reporters, as reported by ANTARA on Thursday, 23 April 2026.

Meanwhile, Budi said KPK investigators will continue to probe these issues with other parties to strengthen witness statements in the case of alleged bribery for the construction and maintenance of railway tracks within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

Previously, on 19 January 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) against inactive Pati Regent Sudewo in Pati Regency, Central Java.

The following day, the KPK brought Sudewo along with seven others to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta to undergo the investigation process.

On 20 January 2026, the KPK named four suspects in the alleged extortion case related to village apparatus appointments in Pati Regency.

They are Pati Regent Sudewo, Karangrowo Village Head Abdul Suyono, Arumanis Village Head Sumarjiono, and Sukorukun Village Head Karjan.

In addition, Sudewo was also named a suspect in the alleged bribery case for the construction and maintenance of railway tracks within the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation.
