The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) Regent Asgianto (AG) in connection with the bribery case involving Muara Enim Regent Edison and BPK officials. In this examination, the KPK is investigating allegations that Regent Asgianto requested that his region also obtain an unqualified opinion (WTP) from the BPK, similar to Muara Enim Regency.

“Investigators do suspect that there was communication or a request for assistance made by the PALI Regent to parties within the BPK,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Budi said the PALI region has not obtained a WTP status since 2013. Asgianto, as regent, is suspected of having sought help from Angga (AG), one of the suspects in the BPK bribery case, so that his region would obtain a WTP status.

“So the PALI Regent requested assistance from Mr AG, who is also a suspect in this case, and also from Mr BB (Bobby Adhityo Rizaldi), who was previously summoned as a witness. How could PALI Regency obtain a WTP opinion,” Budi revealed.

From this examination, Budi said investigators will continue to conduct further investigation, including whether any money was given by PALI Regent Asgianto to BPK officials to obtain the WTP status.

“Investigators will certainly investigate and trace whether similar practices were carried out in the PALI government as was done in the Muara Enim Regency government,” he added.

Furthermore, from Asgianto’s testimony, investigators also obtained information that this practice occurred in several other regions.

“From the PALI Regent’s testimony, it confirms that the BPK audit findings were not only in Muara Enim Regency, but are also suspected to have occurred in other regions. For this reason, investigators will continue to investigate and trace allegations of similar practices,” he said.

The examination of PALI Regent Asgianto as a witness was conducted today by investigators. Asgianto was examined by investigators at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

Besides Asgianto, four other witnesses were summoned by the KPK. They are:

  • Fera Sari, Inspector of Muara Enim

  • Emran Tabrani, Acting Regional Secretary of Muara Enim

  • M Tarmizi Ismail, Head of BPKAD Muara Enim

  • Ratna Pinarti, Head of Budget Division at BPKAD Muara Enim.

For information, Muara Enim Regent Edison was arrested by the KPK in a sting operation (OTT) on Monday (8/6). The KPK then named Edison as a suspect on Tuesday (9/6).

Besides Edison, the KPK named three other people as suspects. The identities of the suspects are as follows:

  1. Muara Enim Regent, Edison

  2. Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026, Abi Nurwardani

  3. The Regent’s nephew, Adi Triyadi

  4. Marketing of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi, Cory Erin Hardi.

The KPK suspects Edison received a bribe of Rp 500 million from Cory. The bribe was allegedly received through Abi Nurwardani.

The bribe was allegedly money to maintain ‘good relations’ because PT MSA, as a smart board supplier, had obtained a procurement project from the Muara Enim Regency Government in 2025. In addition, Abi received money deposits from other agency partners in Muara Enim. The KPK seized approximately Rp 1.9 billion in this case.

On Wednesday (10/6), the KPK also conducted a sting operation against five BPK civil servants. The KPK then named five suspects in the alleged bribery case from Edison to BPK officials. The KPK revealed that BPK officials requested Rp 1.6 billion to change the audit results.

Five people were named as suspects in this case. Their identities are as follows:

  1. Angga, a private party

  2. Titin Rita Lestari, a civil servant or Technical Controller

  3. Edison, Muara Enim Regent

  4. Cory Erin Hardi, marketing of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi

  5. Fika, Director of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi.
