KPK suspects other regional heads may have given THR bonuses to police and prosecutors
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that other regional heads, besides Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, have been distributing festive bonuses (THR) to local coordination forums (forkopimda), including military and police personnel, prosecutors, and judges.
“The KPK suspects that the distribution of THR from regional heads to forkopimda has not only occurred in Cilacap Regency, but also in other regions,” said KPK Deputy for Prosecution and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK Red-White Building in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March, in the evening.
In response, Asep stated that the KPK is requesting all regional heads in Indonesia to refrain from distributing THR to their respective forkopimda members.
“The KPK reminds regional heads and forkopimda to maintain a shared commitment to corruption eradication and to mutually support the realisation of good governance principles in their respective regions with full integrity,” he said.
Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth hand-catching operation of the year and the third during Ramadhan. The operation apprehended Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, whilst confiscating cash in rupiah.
On 14 March 2026, the KPK declared Syamsul Auliya Rachman and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo as suspects in an alleged extortion and illicit receipt case within Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java, for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Syamsul Auliya had targeted obtaining 750 million rupiah through extortion, allocated as 515 million rupiah for the Festive Bonus (THR) of the Local Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Cilacap Regency, with the remainder for personal interests. However, he had only obtained 610 million rupiah before his arrest by the KPK.
