Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined Robby Kurniawan, an advisor to the Minister of Transportation during the tenure of Budi Karya Sumadi and Dudy Purwagandhi, as a witness in the alleged bribery case concerning the construction and maintenance of railway tracks within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

Robby was questioned regarding allegations of receiving money or fees in exchange for railway track construction and maintenance projects within DJKA of the Ministry of Transportation.

“Investigators obtained information about alleged receipts by Mr RB. We then confirmed that information,” said Budi to reporters, as reported by ANTARA on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

Additionally, Budi stated that the anti-corruption agency is also delving into allegations of receiving rewards for DJKA Ministry of Transportation projects involving the suspect in the case, who is also a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2019-2024 period, Sudewo.

“Investigators are also examining witness statements regarding allegations of conditioning or plotting (allocation) of goods and services providers or vendors who then carry out projects at DJKA,” he added.

Previously, the case came to light following a raid operation (OTT) conducted by KPK on 11 April 2023 at the Railway Technical Office (BTP) Class I Central Java Region of DJKA Ministry of Transportation.

Currently, the BTP Class I Central Java Region has been renamed to BTP Class I Semarang.

KPK subsequently designated 10 individuals as suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case for railway track construction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

As of 20 January 2026, KPK has designated and detained a total of 21 suspects.

KPK has also designated two corporations as suspects in the case, namely PT Istana Putra Agung and PT KA Properti Manajemen.

The alleged criminal corruption case occurred in projects including the construction of the double-track railway line Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso, railway track construction projects in Makassar, South Sulawesi, four railway track construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan Cianjur, West Java, and the repair of level crossings in Java-Sumatra.

In the construction and maintenance of these projects, it is alleged that certain parties arranged the winning contractors through manipulation from the administrative process to the determination of tender winners.
