KPK Suspects Ma'ruf Cahyono Received Rp37.8 Billion in Gratuities from MPR Vendors

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that Ma’ruf Cahyono, during his tenure as Secretary General of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), received gratuities amounting to Rp37.8 billion from vendors or partners of projects within the MPR Secretariat General. Achmad Taufik Husein, the acting director of investigations at the KPK, explained that one of the alleged gratuities involved direct and indirect receipts from vendors totalling Rp7 billion. This money was reportedly deposited by the vendors prior to participating in the procurement of goods and services. “The account value is estimated to have reached Rp14.4 billion,” Taufik stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday.

Furthermore, Taufik stated that Ma’ruf Cahyono is suspected of receiving a trading account at a brokerage firm from a vendor who won a work package at the MPR Secretariat General. He is also alleged to have opened a nominee bank account using the name of a private party, identified as FA, from PT Valbury Ecapital International, a company that was a vendor of office stationery for the MPR Secretariat General. “In that account, between 2021 and 2022, MC is suspected of having received a sum of money amounting to Rp16.4 billion,” he said. The total sum of these alleged gratuities amounts to Rp37.8 billion.

The KPK announced the commencement of the investigation into the gratuity case related to the procurement of goods and services at the MPR Secretariat General on 20 June 2025. Witnesses began to be summoned on 23 June 2025, when the KPK also announced it had named a state official as a suspect. The suspect was later revealed to be Ma’ruf Cahyono on 3 July 2025. The KPK detained Ma’ruf Cahyono on 9 July 2026 at the KPK’s Red and White Building detention centre.
