The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Riau, Suhardiman Amby, and the Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency, Zulkarnain, were involved in a bribery scheme concerning the trade of official positions. “That is the suspicion. So, this bribe is suspected to be for the position of Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. Consequently, Budi stated that the KPK has requested Suhardiman and Zulkarnain to surrender. He added that the KPK is still attempting to locate the two individuals, including coordinating with the Riau Regional Police. “In this matter, the KPK is also intensively coordinating with the Riau Regional Police to search for the individuals concerned,” he said. Budi mentioned that the KPK is investigating a suspected leak of information regarding the sting operation. “We will continue to investigate that information. What is certain is that the team is searching for the related parties, including the regent and the regional secretary, whose whereabouts have not yet been found,” he stated. In this 14th sting operation of 2026, the anti-corruption agency has arrested ten people in Kuansing and Jakarta, subsequently bringing five of them for examination at the KPK’s Red and White Building.
