KPK Suspects Kuansing Regent Also Extorted Levies from Farmers
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby, as a suspect in an alleged bribery case concerning the election of the Kuansing Regional Secretary. Additionally, the KPK has uncovered allegations of other illicit receipts by Suhardiman.
“In addition to the alleged corruption regarding bribery for positions within the Kuansing Regency Government, the KPK has also found allegations of other receipts by SA related to the release of Limited Production Forest (HPT) areas,” said the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, during a press conference at the KPK building on Wednesday (1/6/2026).
He noted that the Local Government is the party authorised to provide technical recommendations for the release of forest land, whereas the authority to release forest areas rests entirely with the Ministry of Forestry.
Achmad Taufik stated that the money requested by Suhardiman included portions of the remaining business results (SHU) from members of the village unit cooperatives (KUD). These KUD members are farmers in Kuansing.
“The money requested is allegedly part of the Remaining Business Results (SHU) of KUD members, who are farmers in Kuasting. In other words, the farmers’ income, which ranges around hundreds of thousands of rupiah per month, had to be halved,” he said.
Previously, the KPK revealed that Suhardiman received a Toyota Land Cruiser from Zulkarnain in relation to the Regional Secretary election process. Suhardiman is also alleged to have received a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport from Zulkarnain in 2021 for the appointment of the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR).
The Pajero vehicle was allegedly provided by Zulkarnain while Suhardiman was serving as the Acting Regent of Kuansing. Suhardiman assumed the acting role after the then-Regent of Kuansing, Andi Putra, was arrested in a corruption case.
A total of three individuals have been named as suspects. The list is as follows:
Suhardiman Amby, as Regent of Kuansing
Zulkarnain, as Regional Secretary of Kuansing
