KPK Suspects Information Leak in Kuansing Sting Operation; Regent and Secretary Allegedly Fled Before Arrest

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that information regarding a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi Regency (Kuansing), Riau, was known in advance by the parties targeted in the operation. The suspicion arose after Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuansing Regional Secretary (Sekda) Zulkarnaen had still not been located by investigators during the enforcement action.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that investigators are still looking into the possibility of an information leak related to the sting operation. “We will continue to trace that information. What is certain is that the team is searching for the relevant parties, including the Regent and Regional Secretary, whose whereabouts have not yet been found,” Budi Prasetyo said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

According to Budi, as of Tuesday evening, the whereabouts of Suhardiman Amby and Zulkarnaen remained unknown. The KPK therefore requested that both officials be cooperative and immediately surrender so that the legal process can proceed properly. “We urge the Regent and Regional Secretary of Kuansing on this occasion to be cooperative and surrender to the KPK so that the ongoing legal process can be carried out effectively,” he said.

The KPK has not yet explained further whether the suspected information leak originated internally or from another party. However, the investigation into the matter is confirmed to be ongoing.

In the sting operation in Kuansing, the KPK detained a total of ten people. Nine individuals were detained in the Kuantan Singingi area, while one other person was arrested in Jakarta. Of the total number of parties detained, five people were subsequently brought to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta for further examination. The five people flown to Jakarta consisted of a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, a private party, and a relative of an ASN from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. Meanwhile, examinations of other parties are still being conducted as required by the investigation.

In addition to detaining several individuals, the KPK investigation team also seized various pieces of evidence during the sting operation.
