KPK Suspects Former MPR Secretary-General Demanded 10 Percent 'Fee' from Procurement Projects

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that former Secretary-General of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ma’ruf Cahyono demanded a fee of around 10 percent from the value of goods and services procurement packages at the MPR Secretariat General.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the alleged fee demand reached approximately 10 percent of the value of each project package. “The ‘fee’ demand is suspected to have reached around 10 percent of the project package value,” he said.

To investigate this allegation, the KPK examined a witness from PT Lima Abadi Lestari with the initials ADZ on 7 July 2026. “The examination of this private sector witness is being pursued in relation to the work packages carried out by the private party. It is also being investigated regarding the alleged demand for a work ‘fee’ by the suspect from the witness,” Budi stated.

He added that ADZ’s testimony is expected to strengthen the evidence that investigators have gathered in the case. The KPK previously announced an investigation into alleged gratuities related to the procurement of goods and services within the MPR Secretariat General on 20 June 2025.

On 23 June 2025, the KPK began summoning witnesses and simultaneously announced that it had named a state official as a suspect. At that time, the KPK stated there was only one suspect, who allegedly received gratuities amounting to approximately Rp17 billion. Subsequently, on 3 July 2025, the KPK revealed that the suspect in the case was former MPR Secretary-General Ma’ruf Cahyono.
